Mt Everist

Sir Edmund Hillary- July 20th 1919- January 11th 2008- He was the first man to climb Mount evirts - He was born in NZ - He was rasid in NZ- He put the American flag on the mountain.
     

Tenzing Norgayn- 29th May 1914- 9 May 1986 - He helped Sir Edmund Hillary up The mountain - He was born in Napl- He was Rasid in Napl - The air was very thin when they got higher.

  2. Kia ora Pupuke,

    I really like the pictures that you have included in your blog today. They really capture each of the important elements of the story - Sir Edmund Hillary, his sherpa Tenzing and the mountain itself.

    Do you think that you would ever like to follow in Sir Edmund's footsteps and climb Mt Everest? I don't know that I would. It is a pretty intrepid (brave) thing to do! I am sure that both Tenzing and Sir Hillary would have been incredibly excited when they achieved their goal and reached the top of the mountain. Apparently, they flew the Union Jack flag (the British flag) rather than the American flag or the New Zealand flag because they had been climbing the mountain with a group of mountaineers from Britain. I think that it's a shame that the NZ flag wasn't planted on the top of Everest given that Edmund Hillary was from Auckland. What do you think?
